Thursday 16th of March marked a day of school news reporting – an initiative set up by the BBC to give 11-16 year olds the chance to make the news for real!
Students were tasked with filming or writing a series of news articles about issues relevant to them. Our students chose to focus on wellbeing and living with Autism in a series of thought-provoking and sometimes poignant articles.
The articles were written and filmed during the day then edited and posted online to a special part of the academy website – just like a real newsroom.
Miss Robinson, who helped to co-ordinate the event, said “I am beyond proud of what the students have achieved. Almost everything was written or scripted by them. I hope staff share some of their fabulous news reports in their lessons!”
BBC School News Report is in its 11th successful year and involved over 900 schools around the country.
