A group of year 7 science students recently enjoyed a three day rural retreat to Langdon Beck Youth Hostel in County Durham. Situated in the heart of Upper Teesdale, students had many enjoyable learning experiences during their educational visit.
The trip was an opportunity to put students’ science training to good use by exploring and studying a range of diverse habitats whilst enabling them to strengthen their team building skills. Throughout their stay students enjoyed joining in many activities and challenges including orienteering, river sampling, gorge walking, rope climbing and shelter building.
Students’ behaviour was a credit to the academy and feedback from the students was positive as usual.
Trip leader, Mr Ward, told us: “This proved to be another rewarding trip with lots of learning going on which will be an invaluable support the student’s science studies. It also gave them an insight into possible future scientific careers.”
