This year’s SMSC drop down days started as a flying success. Our Year 10 students acted with absolute maturity and respect whilst they took part in a number of sessions ranging from Contraception, Careers, Pregnancy, Parenting and Abortion to Drugs Awareness and Forced Marriage.
National Poetry Day is an annual celebration that inspires people throughout the United Kingdom to enjoy, discover and share poems. Academy students marked the day, which was held on 28th September, by taking part in poetry based activities within their English lessons.
During the long summer holidays students’ reading levels can easily go into decline. As a means of preventing this and in encouraging students to maintain their reading skills and confidence over the holiday period they were invited to take up the Academy’s Summer Reading Challenge.
