Three students are currently attending a specialist motorcycle riding and maintenance course in association with bumpy.org.uk
BUMPY (Birstall Urban Motorcycle Project for Youth) is a local charity whose aim is to provide a safe, supervised place for people of all ages and abilities to get involved in riding motorbikes on road and off road. In addition to riding safely they also offer a maintenance programme and educate students on wider issues such as drug awareness and fire safety.
Their maintenance course will qualify students up to an ABC Award level 1 standard which will enable progression into further education or an apprenticeship.
Miss Holmes, who co-ordinates the course said, “The students that went had a great time. Undeterred by the rain, the lads had their first experience of riding motorbikes safely. They had a tour of the site and saw the off-road tracks and courses that they will eventually be riding around when they’ve become more confident.”
