A selection of students went on an exclusive backstage tour of Leeds Bradford Airport as their prize for being named as runners-up of a Young Enterprise Airline Masterclass session.
The students visited Leeds-Bradford Airport for several hours and got to see the full operational process at the airport ahead of the summer. This included a trip along the runway and taxiways, a tour of the airport’s fire station and a look around the departure lounge.
The group met key operational staff and heard all about the airport’s growth plans. In addition, they got to see many aircraft depart and arrive, including the three times daily British Airways service to London Heathrow T5.
Mr Hazi, who accompanied the group for their tour said:
"The students from the Academy got a fascinating insight to how the airport functions on a day-to-day basis; it was incredibly inspiring for them all. They met many of the brilliant people who work behind the scenes ensuring the smooth operation of Leeds Bradford Airport. We’d like to say thanks to all involved for this opportunity.”
The students secured this once in a lifetime tour by being named as runner-up in the Young Enterprise Yorkshire finals – the Airline Masterclass – in 2016. This is supported by both Leeds Bradford Airport and British Airways.
