During the long summer holidays students’ reading levels can easily go into decline. As a means of preventing this and in encouraging students to maintain their reading skills and confidence over the holiday period they were invited to take up the Academy’s Summer Reading Challenge.
Organised by English teacher, Mrs Jack, the Summer Reading Challenge was rolled out at the end of the last academic year to encourage students to read over the holidays. The challenge was for students to read at least ten books (fiction or non-fiction) and keep a detailed record of the books they had read.
Many students enjoyed taking part in the challenge and four have received a special award for producing outstanding reading records.
Each of the four prize winners has earned a certificate to keep in their Record of Achievement and a £10 LOVE2SHOP voucher to spend on whatever they desire!
Winning awards for their outstanding reading records were Zahra Patel, Mohammed Ismail, Zainab Patel and Nusaybah Syed.
