Thornhill Community Academy's English Department Organises Unforgettable London Trip for Students

Led by staff from the English department, Academy students were given the opportunity to visit Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London. The visit was arranged to enrich their classroom studies, as all students in years 7 to 9 have studied a Shakespeare play during the past academic year.

The itinerary was packed with exciting activities, ensuring the students had a memorable time. The students commenced their adventure by travelling to London King's Cross on the train. Their first stop was the Globe Theatre, where they had the opportunity to witness William Shakespeare's legacy first hand.

Following their visit to the Globe Theatre, the students strolled down the Southbank, where they rode on the iconic London Eye, from which they could view the city's breathtaking skyline. The group then went to Covent Garden, where they enjoyed dining at Pizza Express.

After their meal, the students could explore Covent Garden at their own pace to discover this vibrant area of the city and learn about its culture. They also had the chance to visit the Harry Potter shop in London King's Cross, adding a magical touch to their already remarkable day.

For many students, this trip marked their first time visiting London, making it a memorable and eye-opening experience. The combination of cultural enrichment, historical significance, and leisure activities made this excursion a resounding success, providing the students with a first hand learning experience beyond the classroom.
