Year 11 Students Excel in Mock Interviews as Part of Academy's Careers Programme

Students in Year 11 were put through their paces in mock interviews as part of the Academy's extensive careers programme. The Academy provides mock interviews to prepare students to take part for real when they apply for places at college.

A total of sixteen individuals, representing a diverse range of local employers, university and college tutors, and academy trustees, generously volunteered their time to conduct these interviews. Their varied backgrounds and wealth of experience were instrumental in guiding our students towards informed future decisions.

Students were expected to present themselves to a very high standard. They had the option to dress professionally instead of wearing their school uniform and bring a copy of their personal statement to the "interview." They were asked an array of questions, and each received feedback from their interviewer. The aim of the interviews was to give students an opportunity to experience a formal work-related interview, build their confidence, and develop their communication skills.

The event was organised at the Academy by our Careers Leader, Miss Walker, who told us: “Once again, our Mock Interview event has been a huge success.”

“All Year 11 students should be extremely proud of themselves. We’ve had some brilliant feedback from both our students and external visitors too, which is amazing to hear. I’d like to thank all our external visitors for giving up their time to attend the event, it truly is appreciated,” she added.

Later this year, Year 11 students will have to undergo an interview for colleges, sixth forms and apprenticeships. Mock interviews allow students to hone their communication skills and help them appreciate what employers look for in potential candidates.

Thank you to all the interviewers who gave up their time to support our students.
